Eva when she broke her leg with grandma Tree.
Deja vu. Last pregnancy with Travis, I spent the beginning months carrying around a toddler with a broken leg. However, this time I have already been ordered to do no carrying of the toddler...hmmmm? Travis was jumping on Eva's little, tiny twin bed on Saturday night just before bed and PLOP, off the end. His nose was all red and marked up, so I thought that was it. Well, he kept crying and wanted me to kiss his foot too. He just wouldn't stop crying. My brothers came over because we had all just went out to eat. I told Travis "you can lay on this bed and be sad until you're ready to come out." Well, we're in the other room and he's just SCREAMING. I'm being typical "what noise?" mom and I don't even hear it. Finally, Nolan says "Are you sure he didn't break his leg? I go in there and he had tried to get off the bed but couldn't walk. (Insert mucho, mondo, ginormous amount of guilt into mother.) He's saying he has an "owwee foot" over and over again. Well, I can't carry him, so Nolan carried him in the ER. We were there from 9-midnight!!!! He took his x-rays like a pro and said "cheese." Cute! It is just a hairline fracture of the tibia, in no way did it look as bad as Eva's did. He is only casted below the knee, she was to the thigh. He wants the "band-aid" OFF and keeps saying it doesn't hurt anymore... and then cries when he tries to move around. He is non-weightbearing, Chris is gone, Grandma had to come to carry him all over... I'm at 29 weeks, went into pre-term labor last time at 31 weeks, so I'd really like to make it past the next 3-4 weeks without carrying him and ending up in bed or with a premie. Hopefully we can get a walking boot on Wed when we go in for the hard cast. I always let them jump on that bed. It's one of those "pick your battles" things that I chose to ignore. Nolan says "who would let their 2 year old jump on a bed 3' wide?" Hmmmm. Good point. I'll choose my battles more wisely from now on.
